Radio Frequency Radiation Survey
AmDyne provided a Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR) survey to identify and evaluate the Radio Frequency (RF) sources (>300) within NAS Patuxent River and the Webster Field Annex, in accordance with the safety requirements of OPNAVINST 5100.23E. A RFR database was developed which contains all data collected over the course of the survey. The database has the capability to calculate power densities at any distance from the individual sources. From this information, HERO/HERF/NERF calculations can be made.

Ionizing Radiation Program Management
AmDyne provides scientific, technical, logistical, and programmatic support to assist the NAS Pax River Occupational, Safety, and Health (OSH) Department in administering its Radiation Safety Program. AmDyne maintains and monitors the ionizing radiation sources in a manner consistent with human safety and regulatory compliance.

IAQ Assessments and Toxic Mold Investigations
AmDyne has performed several indoor air quality investigations at NAS Pax River and Webster Field Annex. Site investigations have been comprised of metered survey, ventilation assessment, sampling, moisture abatement and/or remediation of contaminated areas.

Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) Surveys
AmDyne is providing a complete Asbestos and Lead Based Paint Survey on all buildings and structures at the Webster Field Annex. Approximately 120 buildings and structures have been reviewed, sampled and photographed to determine and report the location of asbestos containing materials and LBP covered materials. AmDyne also recently conducted an Asbestos survey onboard the ex USS Tripoli prior to its habitability for use as a floating laboratory. Minor remediation and crew member training were conducted.

Asbestos Management Support, Alexandria Waste Water Treatment Plant
AmDyne is providing IH field support to Bell Construction for renovations at the Alexandria WasteWater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Alexandria, Virginia. The majority of the buildings at this site are greater than 40 years old, resulting in asbestos building material. The general contractor has retained AmDyne to provide environmental media characterization necessary for worker safety and disposal purposes.

Non-Ionizing Radiation Program Support
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) conducts a broadly based multidisciplinary program of scientific research and advanced technological development directed toward maritime applications of new and improved materials, techniques, equipment and systems for ocean, atmospheric, and space sciences. AmDyne employees are assisting NRL in accomplishing these tasks. Specifically, AmDyne is tasked with performing:

  • Laser Safety Inspections
  • Standard Operating Procedure management
  • NRL Laser Inventory maintenance
  • Deficiency abatement support
  • Laser eyeware inventory
  • Laser safety and warning signage maintenance
  • Training and medical surveillance management
